The Learning Advantage

Thriving in today's rapidly evolving environment means companies have to make significant shifts in the way they think, learn and operate. And that's precisely the area where The Learning Advantage is most effective.

Moreover, we also assist in articulating the best means of making change – and, perhaps even more importantly, getting the entire organization to support it. The Learning Advantage doesn't just work with clients to map out change strategies, we have a proven history of implementing lasting, large-scale change initiatives for both service and manufacturing firms.

Our approach turns change resisters into change leaders.

Case History

The Corporate Finance office of a Fortune 100 holding company led a process to reengineer the finance function. They made many smart moves, including:

  • setting clear goals
  • taking and improving the "best practices" from each of their subsidiaries
  • testing and documenting the new processes, and
  • planning their new "roll-out" one department at a time.

Problems surfaced when implementation began in the subsidiaries. The subs realized that their current systems were outdated and ineffective and were highly motivated by the cost savings that would be achieved with the new system. Unfortunately, cost pressures had left them with "skeleton staffs" who could barely keep up with business as usual. The corporate office helped the subsidiaries by designing the implementation process and sending reengineering consultants to "jump start" the effort. Because the subs weren't fully brought in, the enforced implementation only increased resistance.

The Solution

The Learning Advantage helped corporate increase motivation for change, and gave management specific skills to facilitate implementation. We orchestrated dialogues between diverse groups, including role-reversal role playing. By the end of one three-day session, the subs were more supportive of implementing reengineering and Corporate understood the need to "let go" and let ownership pass to the subsidiaries.
